UI has been invited to join the Future Cities Catapult Expert Advisory Group on a research project on “Performance in Use.  The project is designed to provide an evaluation framework that helps urban authorities and the private sector to understand the economic, social and environmental impact of urban digital technologies.

The motivation for the project was to develop a better understanding of the consequences and implications of smart city experiments.

The research programme incorporates three phases: peer review, research & development and validation. The purpose of the Expert Advisory Group is to convene world-leading expertise to steward the content and direction of the wider R&D programme. UI input into the interdisciplinary group will draw upon our work on smart cities, urban socio-technical networks and urban automation.
