Hita Unnikrishnan is a Newton International Fellow at the Urban Institute and was recently asked to reflect on who exactly was an “early career” person and was the distinction useful.
In a blog for In Common Hita pondered on the term “early” as it suggested that the researcher would progress to a more senior level and was at the moment the term was applied either younger or less intellectually advanced.
Hita then moved on to discuss what was exactly “early” about “early career” as following a fixed linear career path was no longer the norm and often, the “early career” group included a diverse group of people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences.
