UI’s work on Volumetric Urbanism has just been published in Beyond the Networked City Infrastructure reconfigurations and urban change in the North and South Edited by Olivier Coutard, Jonathan Rutherford and published by Routledge in 2016.
The book argues that the “modern infrastructural ideal” of spatially and socially ubiquitous centrally-governed infrastructures is being increasingly questioned and that the network ideology that supports it may be waning. UIs chapter focuses on the volumetric extension of material enclosures to include technological mediated and processed atmospheres in response to a more turbulent and denuded global ecology.
