SEA-Mozambique (‘Sustainable Energy Access’) is a research project funded by the Sustainable Development Programme of the British Academy. SEA-Mozambique examines the multiple challenges that affect energy access in Mozambique. Mozambique faces some of the worse level of energy access in the World. According to the World Bank, only 21% of the population in Mozambique has access to electricity and less than 5% can access clean and sustainable fuels. Lack of access to energy has direct consequences for people’s lives, livelihoods and the economy of the country as a whole.
