The Joint Programming Initiative Urban Europe was set up in 2010 to strengthen European research and innovation in the field of urban development. It aims to make better use of European public Research, Development & Innovation resources and to tackle common European urban challenges more effectively. Professor Simon Marvin recently accepted an invitation to join the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). The SAB is comprised of internationally acclaimed individuals working in the research field who have shown a great interest in and contributed to the scientific understanding of cities. It is an advisory body responsible for offering critique, recommendations and guidance towards the strategic orientation of JPI Urban Europe
