Living in Plural Cities

Is our understanding of urban infrastructure changing? Do we need to move beyond discussions about ‘smart cities’ and digital innovation? What pathways exist for the city of the future?

This short video was produced by the British Academy, the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences. Simon Marvin, Urban Institute Director, Ayona Datta, Kings College London, and Matthew Gandy, University of Cambridge aim to explain what urban futures in an increasingly uncertain world are likely to entail, what makes cities liveable, how infrastructures can help improve social cohesion and urban sustainability, and what the global north and the global south might be able to learn from one another.

The British Academy has also published a short reflection piece on the discussions, you can find it here.
